This subject has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. So how many people really know what christmas is all about?

There is no evidence at all to suggest Jesus even existed, let alone was born on 25th December. Well before Christianity polluted the shores of Britain, the date we now know as December 25th was the Pagan midwinter solstice festival. The Christians stole this festival from the Pagans and built their 'Christ' myth around it.

When the Christ was born, (Jesus), wise men travelled to bring gifts. We give gifts just as they did,(Usually a lot more than three). Christmas is a commercial holiday now, it's true. You do not have to have it like that for your family if you choose not to. You can decorate to celebrate (I didn't know that the tree was from a pagan celebration until reading some of the answers here). The children love the idea of santa clause, and it does no harm, like the tooth fairy. If you are Christian, speak of Jesus. Read a bible story of the birth of Jesus. Little ones love the nativity scene and especially the Baby Jesus.
For those of you who say no proof... Is that just an idea or feeling that you have, or have you actually researched Jesus? Darwin came up with the evolution theory (idea), but what is not talked about is the fact that he became a Christian, He found that he could find proof the Bible was correct and he could not find proof of evolution, it was just a theory..no fact. That is why to this day it is still call Theory..idea.
By the way,
Merry Christmas

If I remember my religion class well enough (this is not a quote the bible bit) the Romans celebrated the winter solstice on the 25th of December and the founding Church members wanting to incorporated the Romans into the religion decided that it would be a good day to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Basically the holiday of Christmas was invented to allow the Romans to convert with out making them give up too many of the old traditions.

Christmas was a day that occultic people worshiped trees and so they decorated them and they danced around them, to some the trees were god. So Christians (with good intention) thought that the birth of Jesus should be celebrated that way (decorating trees, exchanging gifts, etc the only difference between Christmas and what those people did is we don't worship the trees rather the birth of Jeus christ). If you read in the old testament (I don't remember the Book) it says God rejects the way people celebrate the birth of Jesus because it is an occult. So should we celebrate Christmas? I guess not because if God did want us to celebrate it he would have let us know the exact date of Jesus and second he would have told us that we should give this and this to the church on the day of his birthday.

So people can spend time with family and help each other and have decorations and stuff. Your right Christmas has nothing to do with the Birth of Jesus because Jesus was actually Born in the Spring time.

Christians celebrate this as the birth of Christ - whether you believe that or not doesn't seem to matter - now it seems Christmas is a very commerical idea - presents are exchanged and Christmas dinner is had - and hopefully its a time for everyone to be "merry". That said the true meaning of Christmas is certainly lost - whether you believe in the Christian meaning or the Pagan meaning.

I think it's hard to not answer this question without discussing the birth of Jesus. The birth of Jesus is a gift from God to us. The Christmas season is for us to celebrate the gift of giving.

There's no point in pretending that Christmas has anything to do with Christianity (Look to comment made above by driver08uk)

Christmas has no meaning these days but I think that kids are the most important part

I think we celebrate Christmas, birthdays, weddings, etc. because deep inside is the knowledge of the brevity of life, and we want to show we're going to Love each other, while we can.

I celebrate Yule. For me, it's a time to reflect on relationships with family and friends and celebrate those (with gifts! Yes!). It's also a time to reflect on the cycle of the year (as I usually do on all sabbats). It marks the beginning of the return of the sun. And it starts a time of introspection for me. To reflect on things I've accomplished and what I want to accomplish.
