Okay, let's try to make this as easy as possible. If you have a first cousin, that person is your children's first cousin, once removed, meaning separated by one generation. That same person will be your grandchild's first cousin, twice removed. Now if your first cousin has a child, that child is your second cousin. Hope this makes sense to you.
