If a stranger who doesn't know where you are from starts insulting your country?

Getting into a heated argument,won't get you anywhere. Educated him about your country. Tell him why you love and defend your country.
He will either, listen and hopefull understand your feelings. Or. He won't discuss the subject with you. It's a win, win situation.
Let him know where you are from, in all fairness, to both of you.

People tend to do that. They think that their country a better than some. You have several ways to deal with such people. You may try to avoid them by silently leaving them. You may try and change the topic. You may try and disprove them or correct them by stating the truth about your country or by giving some examples that would make them understand your country is better than what the think.
We should love our country. It is where our roots are, no matter how bad it may seem to others, it is where we were raised and molded to who we are today. But never retaliate by insulting the strangers country (LOL). Try to avoid arguments/fights. Keep it cool. Who would better know your country but you.

Tell them that I live in the greatest country on the face of the Earth and they have no idea what they are talking about.

It's hard to learn when your lips are moving. Stay quiet and listen. If there is any validity to what he is saying, then do what you can to change it. Every person makes a difference. If he is just an idiot, then ignore him. Don't give him platform for his misconceptions!
