Good question! I also found this change a bit funny. It's just the way big record companies work. The re-evaluate their artists and give them a new image in order to boost sales. Of course this is not so straightforward as it sounds and it all depends on who turns into what for their next album. Remember when Pink turned Rock? That was a good move from the company's point of view. Sometimes you can also have disasters like when Jewel was turned into teen-pop bimbo overnight. Executives' and image designers' salaries depend on their ability to produce a successful idea.
However this practice is not at all new. Transformation has always been an integral part of any kind of art and pop music is no exception. For example Madonna, Prince and above all David Bowie have all been masters of artistic transformation in the past both aesthetically and musically. It's always up to the listener's choice to tell whether a change is inspired artistically and meaningful or happens just for the sake of exploiting a current trend.

I guess she wanted a change from her usual style. Anyway when women become mothers they become totally different to what they were originally maybe thats why.

i dunno but i liked the old nelly better. some of her songs actually ment something. i can careless about how promiscuous you are or a crappy remake of maneater. bring back turn off the light and i'm like a bird!!!
