I have used cillit bang to clean off the ingrained dirt and it has left the bath with white streaks and taken off all the shine.

You can try car-polish. I use it for almost everything, that became streaky. It almost works on anything shiny. And you can try it out, without damaging surfaces. I wish you good luck with it!

Well, that Cillit Bang is just as vile as its advert on telly with the screaming idiot going on about how good it is. I think if it's really taken the shiny coat off the bath then it would have to be re-enameled. Sorry to hear about your bath but next time use a more decent detergent such as Flash Bathroom or something like that.

cillit bang is EVIL. It is basically ACID in a bottle which if you read it closely you will see. They should not sell it without big warnings on it. I did the same to my toilet seat and now it's never the same. I fear it may be ruined forever.

One of the best(and cheapest) bathroom cleaners, as recommended by my local bathroom fitter, is washing up liquid. I use a big, non-scratch sponge and the whole bathroom gleams!
