I don't want to burst your bubble but as other children mature they will tend to catch up in talent. I've seen it many times in baseball and other sports... you'll see a kid that is a great pitcher in little league baseball that by the time he reaches high school will be passed by others. Just let your child play and learn as much as possible while he matures and maybe he'll stay one step a head of the rest.

Your son is only 9. Don't push the football thing right now. He could later resent both it and you. Just let him have fun and be a kid. If he loves the team he's on, let him stay there. Those are his teammates and his friends. Don't take that away from him just because you want to see him on a well known team. When he's older (teenager here) and he still has interest and natural talent, use that to get a college scholarship. In the meantime, cheer for him at his little local team. Besides, he's obviously excelling now if everyone is noticing his talent. Give some kudos to his current coach.

First make sure he knows how important his reputation is!! He needs to worry about grades and staying out of trouble!! The city leagues are probably the best choice right now, he is learning the basics. The Coaches from the schools will be watching and gathering info on players who will be stepping up th school sports. But no matter how good of a player he is, grades and behavior will always be the final reason a kid is or isn't picked!! They don't want a player who may or may not be dependable because of grades or suspensions. Their reputation will follow them all the way to college too!! My husband and I have been coaching baseball, softball and football for almost 10 years and we have dealt with high school sports, city leagues and jr high. Self control, and common sense are a big part of someones ups and downs!!

Let the kid have fun. Ultimately, it's not about having him win a scholarship and playing for a D1 school. He's going to be turning 10, right? At that age, football is all about fun. Consider yourself blessed that he feels passionate about playing football outdoors rather than sitting at home vegging out in front of a game console.

When a child signs for an academy associated with a football team he is forbidden to play for both his school team and his local league team. If he is genuinely good then he will be spotted in a few years by a club scout as they regularly watch schoolboy and local league teams. but be warned that out of all the young players that are invited to train with these teams only a very small amount will make the grade and in my experience the ones who dont often return to their teams worse than before and with little confidence in their ability. Give him 3-4 years to enjoy himself or risk spoiling any potential he has.

belive me,let him play with the school, local youth teams.there are to many outstanding talents that get picked up for accademies, that never make it.let him enjoy his football without the presure he,ll get at them places.in 6 years time he will be better as,no pressure, confidence, and above all love of the game.it,s a hobbie no a chore.
