The only way is to grit your teeth, think about something else and put yourself on Auto-pilot.
Once you put yourself on Auto-pilot to do the things that you know will be best for you in the end, the feelings eventually drift away and you lose the urge to do that 'bad' thing.
I experience these temptations occasionally - as do we all. And I find I am very successful with the above method of not falling into the trap. I just stop thinking about how I feel, and do what I know is right.
Sometimes it helps to think of all the possible outcomes of a bad decision. If for example, you are thinking of calling up an ex - stopping to think about all of the negative results that would come out of it helps you to overcome that feeling of calling them up.

I've done a lot of bad things in my time, but I'm able to justify them because I believe that I acted accordingly, therefore, I have no regrets about anything.
True, many people will not agree with my actions and methods, but, as in the words of Bon Jovi; "It's My Life", and I willingly accept any repurcussive effects from everything I do in life.
As for what Jesus would do, I don't wish to start a holy flaming war, but there is a lot of stuff within the bible that contradicts many aspects of what can only be described as a broad discussion that could branch of into any number of sub-discussions on the matter.
I say live life to the extreme, do what you believe in, have a blast, after all, it's your life, and you only have one, (I didn't believe in re-incarnation in my previous life either)..

I think if you really really want to do something its much easier to control yourself, for example, not to eat the cake if your dieting and are really serious about loosing weight. If on the other hand its something you want but are not too serious about it - its a lot easier just to say to yourself I'll just have this cake and start again tomorrow! I think to stop yourself from having a cigarette for example you could remind yourself of health benefits, how much money you have just saved - always remind yourself why you're doing the particular thing and list in your head all the positives that you will achieve by sticking to what you want.

It's called self-control and If you don't have any boy you are in trouble.
Temptation has this way of challenging our morals and it does question our ability to stop it before it becomes wrong. Devilish thoughts are there especially when we are told we can't have it, it goes back to when we were young and out parents told us not to do something. We did the exact opposite.

What would Jesus do?????
How about having some self control instead of asking what a fictitious character would have done.
You can keep your 10 points

I read a book "The Man They Could not Kill" (nope! couldn't find it on the internet! maybe I've got the title wrong) about Citizen Wong in China who endured all kinds of tortures by people who wanted him to give up his Christianity. His secret for not giving up was: keep putting it off. Works for me! This moment is not the only one in your life. But if you can keep putting the bad thing off to another time, you'll never do it.

you shouldnt have regrets, thats what i think. when somethings been done, theres nothing you can do about it, so whats the point in regrets? you just have to get on with life.
imagine you said something to someone you probably shouldnt have said, you might think it was a really bad thing to say, but you cant change it. you just have to deal with whats happened and move on, no point in looking back on something you cant change.

I don't live my life regretting the things that i do, only the things I don't do. I know I wont do anything so bad that I will suffer eternally! (murder etc!) We only get one shot at life so why miss opportunities to enjoy it to the fullest! So I ask myself, If I do this can it be fixed ultimately? If it can then fill yer boots!

you need to think about things really hard before you go a head and do them. don't rush in to a decision that you know deep down that you will later regret. you most keep positive and tell your self that anything is possible once you put your mind into it.

Obviously self-control is the answer. But how to get self-control? The answer is to recognize and understand that self-control is what the Bible calls a "fruit of the Holy Spirit" - a work of God in one's heart where you are given strength to resist temptation. As we turn to God, as we repent of our sins (what results from lack of self-control), as we ask Him for help, He gives us the gift of self-control.
