supermodels are supposed to be the most beautiful women on the planet, but are they ? do men see these women as being sexy, or are curves better ? also, is the fashion industry setting a bad example to todays teenagers, giving them so much peer pressure, and an image that is extremely difficult to emulate, and in a lot of cases, also very unnatural and unhealthy. ?

Most men look at those supermodels and think nice face shame about the rest....
at the end of the day the average size of a woman in england these days is a size 14. nothing wrong with that at all. i like women who have curves and who is proud of the way she looks.
dont want to date a stick do we.
sophie dahl was a great shape and size and was a sexy supermodel before she went on a diet. now she is a mess.
just be happy the way you are and if youre not then get down a gym and workout.
but on the otherhand men have to compete with the likes of david beckham, brad pitt and george clooney. so its the same isnt it.

Hi,
I think recently Kelly Brook was voted as having the most attractive figure, and as some previous aswerers have said look at the women featured in men's magazines - that gives you a good idea of what most men find an attractive shape.
Super-models are only attractive because that is what the media tells us and they are featured so often in magazines (where they are also airbrushed to perfection).
As for the fashion industry, well, models have always tended to be tall and slim - this allows the clothes to be shown off to their best. So I don't know if you can blame the fashion industry itself or the media circus that surrounds the models. I suppose the fashion industry is a business which wants to make as much money as possible. So every season a new look comes out which the public are encouraged to go and buy so that we can remain fashionable. Obviously the whole industry is geared into making people buy into the dream/lifestyle and if, by purchasing the latest outfit you too can live like a super-model then the business has succeeded in getting your money.
So, yes, you could blame the industry for setting these 'ideal' images for other women to strive to, but people are responsible for their own actions, they can choose whether to follow someone else's example or whether to be happy with themselves the way they are.
Women obviously have most of this pressure but it is happening to men as well now. I hardly have the body of a Greek god but I try not to worry about it and be happy with the way I am - what a waste of energy to be bothered about not having someone else's figure!

Personally the quality I find most attractive, regardless of shape, is someone who is happy with themselves, is positive, upbeat and self-confident.

Anyway hope that helps answer your interseting question!
Thanks!

Well, there are a whole bunch of questions!

I'd say men find all sorts of women sexy! There is no 'one size fits all' figure, just as some men prefer blondes, or black ladies, or short women...

As to whether the fashion industry is setting us bad examples, that's a hard one. I mean it seems to me that they are interested in selling clothes, not in giving out health messages! I'm not convinced that there aren't more important things in the world than whether fashion models are too skinny!

Finally, I hate that word 'natural'. I really don't know what a natural figure would look like, or natural clothing for that matter! Far too often the word 'unnatural' is used merely to signify something that is disliked...

Supermodels can be beautiful and sexy, however this trend for so called "Heroine chic" is too much. I am a skinny male but eat well and healthily but I don't find them attractive and cannot understand why women feel the need to look like this. I don't think too many young girls are overly desperate to look like this are they? Just look around you the next time you go shopping most women are not like this. The media blows most things out of proportion and this is just another example. Good question though.

Some are some aren't. When Jodie Kidd burst on to the scene in her super waif guise I thought she needed a good meal inside of her and actually looked quite ill. Now that she has filled out a bit she looks a lot better. When I met my wife she was quite thin, although now she is borders between a size 12-14 and looks better for it.
I also have three daughters aged 7, 8 & 10 and all are different in their own ways, my oldest is quite thin, whereas the other two are what you would call average sizes. When I am buying clothes for my oldest daughter I have to buy her a size below her age with things like t-shirts and skirts otherwise they are too big for her, we can't get jeans that fit her in both the waist and length. My other daughters we have to by a size above their age simply because nothing else fits.

They are not sexy in the slightest, there is nothing admirable about abusing your body in such a way that it can damage your health, just so you can wear a dress that any normal person would need a crow-bar to get into, and so people can see your ribs though.

Even though I am very skinny myself, (and tall, I have a 28" waist, a 36" inner leg, and I'm 6'2" tall), I weigh 150lbs, and I try to eat at least 2,000 calories a day, and try to eat healthy whenever I can, (never skip breakfast, all main meals a day, proteins and carbohydrates for my weight-training workouts, etc.), if course, I treat myself here and there.
But these toothpicks don't do any of that, a dinner for them would consist of a chive, and the definition of "eating for two", would be if they had a tape-worm, in which case, they might eat a lettuce leaf.

I've always thought that a few curves in the right places are far more sexy - and glancing through the answers from guys seems to bear out my belief that men don't really prefer skinny girls.

The problem is that girls seem to think that they do!

Wake up u females - make the most of your sexy curves!

Obviously no generalisation covers everyone, but we're usually genetically programmed to be attracted toward a healthy physique. Ideally the huma form should be made of healthy muscle tissue with anything from 5 - 20% body fat.
It saddens me that we have junk food and ready meals shoved down our throats at every opportunity, then the same media that advertises the stuff condemns us for eating it and being too fat.
Life is too physically easy today and it has a detrimental effect on our bodies

Mens "interest" magazines and porn magazines are full of shapely women not stick insects. That is the only answer to the question you need. I personnally have never understood why clothes are supposed to look so good on a bean pole, I think any garment looks better on a gal with some thing to flesh it out with.

Yes- I think some do. Its not fault it's what they prefer. I don't judge in anyway shape or form but I would say that it's nobodys fault if they choose women who are considered 'skinny'. Yes I agree that in todays society its 'fashionable' to be skinny and something should be done to make people aware especially teenagers that becoming anorexic as a way of being like them is wrong.

Some women are naturally thin but it doesn't mean they are unhealthy its just how they are.
