I think it lays more in line with the person, not the sexual preference!

Well, that all depends on the current issues at hand doesn't it?
I don't think that either group holds the patent on infidelity, both are equally as guilty but by legal definition since in all but a few places in the United States lesbian and gay couples cannot marry, no marriage = no legal definition of infidelity so therefore the "prize" would go to the heterosexuals for being more susceptible to infidelity.
I think the most amusing thing is that your question leaves out 1 important thing, how a couple defines infidelity. Some who are legally married DO have extra marital affairs with the knowledge of the spouse, is this infidelity if the couple does not consider it to be? Other couples consider "cybersex" cheating, is this infidelity, there is no actual physical contact outside the marriage.....
I don't think the answers you want are quite as easy as you think they should be to define.

I would agree with IndigoBlu only trouble is the numbers are'nt their to back that up.Indeed anyone under the right circumstances with the kind of character that allows for infidelity can stab the other in the back so to speak.
However the raw numbers indicate 6.5 out of 10 so called straight marriages will fail, and certainly more than that figure with regards to simple relationships.
I personally believe that in a hundred years are so it will become common place because the balance is their that 2 married couples bound by traditional marriage bonds will also be bound together as a more perfect union.
Within this a younger couple and an older couple together in love, the so called natural elements are there as too are the sensual ones.

anyone is susceptible, I bet it's pretty even across the board. If you aren't committed, it can happen. Straight, lesbian, gay, you are just describing people, we are all the same you know, no different because we love men or women. We all love and want to be loved, if it's not happening we start reaching for it elsewhere. I think we get so busy we aren't in touch with ourselves, then stuff can happen which seems to take us by surprise. Maybe we haven't been happy for a while and just couldn't admit it. I saw this show on affairs with Barbara Walters and not one of the people interviewed would have chosen to avoid the affair if they could go back and decide again. They all said it was just too thrilling, too exiciting to be wanted! My girl loves me like that, it's a thrill to be with her, even after 23 years, we all need that. We want to be wanted and we want excitement. I say gay, lesbian, straight, we're all just people....

In general, I don't think one is any more susceptible to infidelity than the other. I am a monogamous and faithful person...most people I know, both gay and straight tend to be.
I don't think it has anything to do with ones sexual orientation...it's the individual person.
