If you look around you, everywhere, billboards, commercials, tv shows, magazines. Everybody they show has the so-called perfect " barbie doll image ". Making every girl think she has to starve herself to be beautiful. My cousin is 8 years old and already she thinks shes " fat " and needs to wear makeup to be beautiful. Before you know it anorexia will be a common disease among young kids. And its not like guys help this. Many of them demand girls to be skinny. And other girls are also like this.
So what im trying to say is, why does the media portray this image of perfection. Don't they ever think of how this .. effects peoples image of themselves, and whats beautiful..

I agree with you. It is very very dangerous. There is no image that makes it to a billboard or magazine that has not been altered by a computer into something that never could exist in real life and yet we are "supposed" to look that way or led to think that this product WILL make us look this way.
What worries me greatly is that all these pictures being shown of true anorexics are becoming so commonly shown that it is losing it's shock value. These people are photographed wearing pretty clothes, great accessories, perfect makeup, on the red carpet, and soon we may get confused and think this is okay too....

You have made a very good observation and you are so right. This has caused many young people to get anorexia and it is so totally wrong. It is like these advertisers are brainwashing the young to be anorexic and that is a shame. We are all created in different shapes and sizes and most people are just fine just the way they are. You need to let your cousin know that she is beautiful and unique and tell her she is too pretty and will never need makeup. As far as you go you remember that too. Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders for your age. Maybe you can make other teens your age see that too in your area. Good luck!

We all need to have something quirky or different about us. Those girls are like sheep, basically they all look the same and tomorrow you wont remember what they looked like. Embrace your differences. As to what you've said you are so right, it's everywhere. It's gisgusting. I hope your young cousin grows out of it. I know this has been said but it's our personality not our looks that are beautiful. I hope one day you can make a difference to this issue. As for GUYS, it's only a handful of guys that are like that. They are shallow and don't make good boy friends anyway. A great guy will fall in love with you because you are different to the silly barbie girls

It makes perfect sense. I guess we all influence each other no matter how you did like to think it's not true. Take this recent scenenario. Kate Moss was voted Model of the year. Need I say more. The media, infact most of us glorify stupid ppl and silly stuff. We all need a good sound education of everything.

They continue to portray it because we continue to allow it sadly.
I personally think its sick. The "perfect" person does not exist (I know you're not defending it).
The "ideal" should be a healthy body, mind and spirit. And anorexia is not uncommon among young people in fact they are starting to develop this as young as 8, 9 & 10 years old.

If you haven't noticed yet people are beginning to see what you see and change. Yes, many girls are still like that but most of the girls today have become rebels and are going more goth and wierd. Guys are standing up to the girls and are saying they're too thin and it's sick. Guys tease me about being thin at school. I'm not anorexic I just can't pick up weight due to medical reasons.

It was proved that if barbie would have height of normal woman, she would not be able to walk coz of skinniness.
So... that all is stupid. Rael women are not like that and in several fashion weeks in Europe this autumn they didn't allowed to skinny models to take part, because they finally realized that it is not healthy.

Mineral beginning is maximum suitable and oil-unfastened so it keeps to be on all day and is amazingly mild weight! i for my area use Maybelline Mineral capability powder, however the costlier manufacturers would paintings greater desirable on your pores and skin form (remember rather everyone seems to be distinctive!) stable success nonetheless
