ONLY Muslims can fight terrorists and weaken it, but not stop it completely. Because, it is within them and it is ONLY them who knows more than others do, a devote Muslim may not support a terrorist or even sympathies, but he or she will NOT ALSO criticize them, in fact they see their terrorism as a freedom fight, and links it with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Imams in mosques needs to talk to them, create community activities among Muslims, such as sports, competitions, so young Muslims do not get bored and turn their heads to people like Al-Qaeda who takes advantage of "bored" people. In other words, MAKE THEM BUSY, they will not hate and think about killing. This showed us that Muslims pay attention to politics and current events in their native countries more than others, so they must kept distracted from all this. Don't mean this in a bad way. Just concentrate your studies, and leave POLITICS until you are educated enough to do any good for your suffering people if there are any.

Even if the leader is killed, there will still be a new leader born somewhere in the world. So, you can't just stop it by "fighting" back. The only way you can stop it is by being a model of peace yourself. Hurtful words and deeds incite anger in young minds and bodies, so they are bound to retaliate. If you want peace, start by being nice to your Muslim neighbours or the next Muslim you meet. That way, they'll know that the whole world is NOTagainst them, and they will turn out to be good people, too.

It's all about setting an example to the younger generation!
