By using it. i.e. getting experience.
Ive written so many classes with get- and set methods that I don't even think when I create a new one.
Remember that programming requires a great deal of logical thinking so - completing puzzles like sudoku and doing other activities that requires logical thinking and problem solving will also help a lot.
There is many tutorials and examples on the internet as well which you can use to practice with.
There also workbooks and textbooks that was written on java.

The thing about programming, to get better you need to keep writing code. Keep writting and writting and make application after application.
It is the only way to become a Java Guru! Also if you have friends who code why not create a project together?

Give yourself a project to complete, such as a simple calculator. Then start creating it. Every time you run into a hard part, look online or in books for a solution. I learn the best by doing this.
