For example, one condition I know of, is that you should start wearing it on a Saturday. Can anybody please tell me what the other requirements are to determine when a person should start wearing it?

Graham H: I said that because some people just answer " I don't know " or give an answer that they know is wrong.

Anyway, I was asking from an Indian Astrology ( the country ) point of view.

F10, blue sapphire is for Saturn. saturn is called "Shani" in indian vedic astrology and saturday is called "Shanivaar". So, generally, blue sapphire is worn on saturday. It depends on your birth chart. If you should wear a blue sapphire or not. Some may get good results and some may not. moreover , one has to see if your saturn in deblited, friends with the sign or exalted etc. after seeing your horoscope , an astrologer can decide what to do. If you'd like to anything else then do contact me.

Don't worry, some of us know what you're talking about.

Yes, you are right in knowing that it should be first worn on a Saturday. That is because the Sapphire is the gemstone of Saturn, and Saturday is Saturn's day.

However, you need to ensure that it is all right for you to wear a Sapphire. The traditional gemstones for the planets are very powerful, and their vibrations will strengthen any area of the chart also ruled by Saturn.

Certain houses are considered 'bad' or malefic houses and whichever planets ruling them should NOT be strengthened. If strengthened, their vibrations will increase the malefic effects and you will have more troubles in life. These houses are the 6th, 8th and 12th in the natal chart. A planet can rule 2 houses, which gives rise to this problem. To solve this, there are substitute stones one can use, which help weak areas but do not increase the malefic effects.

Without looking at your chart, we cannot know if Sapphire is the right gemstone for you. But, if indeed it is, these are the rules:

It should be deep blue, and eye-clear, i.e. without visible flaws. The weight should be of 5 or 7 grams. Set it in gold or 'panch dhatu' (a mixture of gold, silver, iron, copper, zinc), and start wearing on a Saturday on the 2nd finger (middle finger) of the right hand. Ideally, it should also be bought on a Saturday and sent to the jewelers on a Saturday for setting, and collected on a Saturday.

Note: Sapphires should be tested before wearing. Test by keeping the gemstone under the pillow for 7 days. If there are no unfortunate events or incidents during those 7 days, then the stone is suitable for the intended user. If troubles crop up during those 7 days, then the gemstone is not suitable and it should be given away to someone else who may need it.

Substitutes for Sapphire are Lapis Lazuli; Garnet; Obsidian; Jet.

I know about certain stones being worn for certain reasons, there are a ton of books on it. I have never read or heard about it being a specific day to start. There a certain days for "magick" if you will, maybe someone was referring to that. Example, Thursday is a good day for "healing". Friday is a good day for "love". Do you understand. Stones can be worn for all types of reasons, so maybe this info got crossed with that info. Good luck. I do know one thing, you should cleanse your stone before you wear it though!!

How can people know whether they know what you are thinking about?

I don't know if I know what you know but I know that Princess Dianas engagement ring was diamonds around a saphire and there was no mention of needing to start wearing it on a specific day of the week.

If you are referring to some obscure tradition maybe only your mum and you knows about it.
