Definatley follow gut. I try balancing between gut, heart and logic.
I sometimes make a decision that seems to make no sense and my heart will waver but my gut 'knows'
The mind is still so unknown why shouldnt the gut be involved too?
If I didnt have my gut instincts I would way up decisions all day!!

the gut feeling is telling you what your mind does not want to believe. that is call intuition. but IT IS SAID BY ANY PERSON IN LOVE THAT THEY FELT IT IN THE STOMACH AND THE THEIR BRAIN AND HEART. I make decisions a lot based on gut instinct. I feel that it is the body's safety device. have you ever started to turn left and changed your mind and went another way and then you found out later that there had been a 5 car pile up. when disaster strikes your brain assimilates it first then you get the sick feeling in your stomach ( that is according to studies done at Princeton.)

Maybe thats why I eat so much?...to avoid thinking...? Sounds like I'm being flippant, but maybe theres a grain of truth there? Could be the start of a new diet? I AM trying to listen to my gut reactions, though, but my head keeps interfering... Not sure about the words " love you with all my guts " -someone might get the wrong idea and be insulted if I haven't specified small or large intestine.

That's true. If you can hate someone with all of your guts, then you could love someone as much too. I make hiring decisions based on gut feelings and I've rarely been wrong. I've hired some really great people!

You would thoroughly enjoy a book by a specialist in this area & with security, etc. "The Gift Of Fear" by Gavin De Becker speaks eloquently and in a most captivating way about just that. And although he refers to it as intuition, it puts into words what you inherently know to be true. It reinforces that ability to rely on the truth that you are perceiving on so many levels, sometimes in split seconds. Also the book "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell (I think), same lines of thought, looks at what's behind our so-called "split-second" decisions. Both books address how to be in touch with these inherent skills and how to more effectively rely on them, esp. the first book. Great question, have fun!

I disagree with you because it is actually the brain that sends signal to the heart and stomach, that's why we feel the way we feel when we're in-love or when disaster strikes.

I definitely make decisions with my "gut" - there are times when the logical answer just doesn't feel right, and that's when I let instinct take over.

I feel butterflies in the tummy when I am feeling really passionate about an idea. I felt that when I was about to get a web site, and with all the scams and stuff, I had to trust my 'gut feeling' and I'm happy I did. http://www.public-speaking-solutions.com
