I dunno- I would think times of war- for instance, either the late 60's or our current time would be the best/worst.

i think of it ought to be the 70's for me... the mid 70's might have dipped somewhat, yet there have been nonetheless great bands liberating sturdy information, such because of the fact the giants Zep and Floyd. Punk got here out of the 70's, as did New Wave, 2 of the triumphing music styles of the final 30 years of determination music. Soul music took a undesirable turn on the top of the last decade, yet legends like Marvin and Stevie released some classic information before everything and center. What replaced into great with regard to the last decade replaced into that a number of those genres have been chart-bothering textile, with the likes of prog, disco, punk, new wave, heavy steel, classic rock, soul, and pa itself, all proving vastly basic by the 70's. it replaced into the main heavyweight of all of the rock eras, with most of the bands of the time proving basic properly previous the tendencies of the day and now.

I was 16 in 1985 and recall the doom and gloom of the mid 80's 'Depression' very well. Although history records it as a recession the North East of England knows different. Alan Bleasdales 'Boys From The Black Stuff' was originally a 50 minute 'Play for Today' about a gang of tarmacers who do a job in Middlesbrough and get ripped off. This led to a legendary series starring most of the original cast set in Liverpool. Fortnately the 'Thatcher years' followed the disasterous Labour term during the 1970's and most people were glad that the lights didnt keep on going out, the bins were getting emptied, the fire brigade were available and bread was on the shelves (although there was no milk in the kids bellys anymore). My heart goes out to the Steeltowns and Pit Villages that had to begin again during this time, they got it the worst.
On the upside we got New Romance (Dexy, Spandau, Kaja +Duran), Electro Pop (Visage, Kraftwerk, Jarre), Breakdance (Chaka etc), Birth of Rap, Tail End of Punk and RAVE CULTURE....(The New 60's)......
Also worth a mention are........The Golden Age of Arcade Games (Defender, Track and Field, Galaxians, Dig Dug), Personal Computers (affordable ones), Mk1 VW Golf and Quality Japanese Guitars (not Korean Tiawanese or Chinese)

Think about the noughties, now. The world is a pretty screwed up place at the moment. The 80's was a walk in the park compared to the present I think. Having said that I was late teens/early twenties during most of the 80's and I guess at that age it's all real highs and serious lows.

I don't agree. The 80's were pretty much uneventful. The 60's were way more radical. Early in the decade, it was the best of Rock and Roll. Then came Hippies, free love, good times. Then the Vietnam War, assassinations: John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., Lee Harvey Oswald (though maybe a blessing in disguise).

No. The sixties was the best time to be alive in living memory and the 00's are the worst. The Eighties were interesting but they were the years when society first became seriously ill.

Definitely!!!! The 80's had it all! The music, the club scene, the TV programmes, even the dodgy fashion.
The current decade is pretty non-descript in comparison
