Hitting a child teaches violence. Therefore it isn't a effective punishment.
The death penalty is effective since the person who is executed is no longer around to commit crimes. However, I do not support the death penalty because there is always the risk of convicting/sentencing the innocent. The chance of putting innocent people to death isn't worth it.

I think you should not spank a child unless there is no other way on the face of the earth to get that child's attention.
A spank in my mind equals a open handed swat to the rear end which is a far cry from killing the individual.
If your actual question is about 'eye for an eye' - then no, killing Saddam Hussein will not make things better. It will however prevent SH from conducting his rein of terror from the comfort of a prison cell.

I see exactly where you're coming from. I do agree to an extent. The difference though is in the seriousness of the act that is being punished. Saddam and others like him,( serial killers, repeat offenders of violent crimes etc) have committed much worse crimes than hitting another person, and they've done it repeatedly. There is very little chance of rehabilitation, therefor, to save others from more of the same, those who have the power have decided to end his life. I don't know if it's "right", but it's definitely not the same as spanking!

First of all spanking a child in a disciplinary method is not wrong...we probably wouldn't be facing the absolute lack of respect for authority that we have today if it was utilized in the last 20 years or so. I know that it isn't popular to some people and everyone is entitled to their views, but quite a few of those people who talk to their children are then ten years later calling their local police department asking to have an officer come out to control their child but their is obviously a big difference from disciplining a child and executing someone to try and compare the two is absolutely absurd.

You can't compare what Hussein did to the appropriate disciplining of a child!
Yes, some will consider the monster a martyr but the majority of the world will consider this a purging of evil.

Depends on why the child hit. If he hit in self-defense then no, teach him to defend himself. If he's hitting for no reason then ya beat his ***. The best way for him to realize not to do it is to associate getting his butt whooped w/ things he shouldnt do, including hitting.
Now this was a Saddam question obviously and IMO he should not be hung, he should have just been sent to rot away. He has been on such a power high for so long that it would hurt him worse to have nothing until the end. But in other cases, the death penalty isnt given out enough.......

I don't think there is anything wrong with spanking under certain circumstances. Punishment is the consequences for doing something wrong. Children have to learn that there are consequences for their actions.
Saddam did bad things and there are consequences that have to be paid. If death is that payment then so be it. It may not make things better, but not following through will make things worse.
Not all hitting would deserve a spanking for your child. How could you punish your child if he/she was defending someone who could not defend themselves? The same would be applicable for murder.

When i did something wrong when i was a kid, my dad would give me the belt, and believe me it hurt when he did.
He's not here now, but i never every swore in front of him, even as an adult, i respected and loved him.
And when i think of them hidings i got, i smile to myself and think how much i did deserve it.
If you listened to all the do gooders in this world, you will end up with a son or daughter that will have no respect for you, and do what they want, which is why the world is the way it is today.

How can you punish a child for hitting someone by doing the same thing to him that you are punishing him for? Talking to him and explaining will teach him more of a lesson in what not to do and how to be a parent someday than hitting him will.

Hey Chris
U want to punish ur kid because he hitting to someone, dear this is not the way to gave a moral lesson to ur kid if u also hit him. Then he become hitting personality if u hit one time then sec, third & go on....... because u hit him, ur behave give him boost to hit some one else. U go to him & talk with polite way & ask his hitting reason, Perhaps something wrong with him with other that's why ur kid took this step of hitting.
Cool down & go with postive side
