I believe that she should as her series has impacted greatly on today's society in a truly positive way. Her books have encouraged children the world over to read books and they all have a wonderful message. Adults also enjoy reading Harry Potter and this shows the range of people influenced by her stories. Do you agree with me that J.K Rowling deserves this special recognition?

I certainly agree with you! J.K. Rowling has given the world a valuable gift with her Harry Potter series. She has made children and adults excited about reading, which is quite an accomplishment considering the kind of alternatives that are available for people in their leisure time. She tackles real issues, such as: racism, classism, bullying, and hate crimes in her books. I think it is very important that people consider these dangerous problems. She also promotes excellent ideas, such as: one shouldn't assume that things are as they appear to be, hard work pays off, everyone has something that they are good at, and that the world isn't divided into heroes and villians - all people are capable of doing good and bad things. I hope that her readers examine their own beliefs and make choices that they'll be proud of after reading her books.

I love the Harry Potter series, and my son who is 9 has read all the books also... I don't think being made a Dame is an achievement, her 'prize' is having made history because her books are now part of the 'classic' must-read books, and being known worldwide, by both children and adults.

100% agree with you. Adding to all the reasons you mention above, Rowling also encourages other writers to write quality children books. Yes, she deserves the title.
