Brilliant!!
AVG - 9/10
Avast - 7.5/10(looks stylish but eats into your virtual memory)
Comodo - 6/10
BitDefender - 7.5/10(no real time protection shield)
AOL Active Virus Shield - 8/10(over advertised, again eats into your virtual memory)

You see, different people have their different needs and opinions. I had a friend who said that AVG Free is the best as it is free. I personally use NIS 2007 and find it very good and easy. But AVG actually should detect worms. Remember: No antivirus is 100%.

Yes it is very good, there are free update available on the website, I have used it for 2 years, it catches all the latest viruses on the net, other paid versions do not have this ability, their updates are very big files, where as AVG has small update files, it is as competent as they may come, dont worry it is just free try it yourself and see , I found it less in size, so easy to download.
You can also look at this research site, where each and everything about AVG is outlined.

I used to have the AVG free, I did find very useful, although, you might want to read the reviews on it at cnet.com or at www.download.com. I now have the activevirus shield, which is made by kaspersky labs, a very high rated program. I always look for the reviews on a certain program and how high it's rated, it is rated a 3 star program, as the activevirus shield is rated a 4 star rating. I am thinking because its tested by the kaspersky labs. A very high rated program. If I was you, I would def read the reviews about each program you are interested in, seeking www.download.com and majorgeeks.com is a start...
Happy safe computing....

do no longer USE FREEWARE The time era "You Get What You Pay For" somewhat applies while conversing approximately antivirus. at the start, you in no way % to have extra suitable than one antivirus put in.. they'll conflict with one yet another (in spite of notwithstanding if or no longer they're disabled) and could render one yet another decrease than ineffective. in case you have 2 put in, you could desire to uninstall the two, and reinstall the only you % after an entire reboot. I strongly recommend you utilize antivirus / firewall / anti-spyware combination from a stable supplier (like McAfee, Norton, etc)... confirm which you precise configure this technique and function it setup to quickly replace. the reason you pay for those is so as which you get those computerized updates AND so as which you have an antivirus scanner scanning in actual-TIME... meaning it somewhat is consistently on observing you establishing and shutting and downloading documents... while that freeware crap does a single test basically once you initiate off up it... so valueless protection. stable success.

I used AVG free for some time and found it to be very effective, however, I prefer the free antivirus I am using now. I believe it is better. It is called Avast.

I recommend it (AVG 7.1) to all my non commercial customers with the following two supplements:
http://emsisoft.com (a-squared free)
http://ccleaner.com (free version)
this is the ultimate low cost (free) combo out there that does the same thing that premium sites that scan you for free and find twenty million errors (yeah right) and charge you 30 or more dollars to fix. this does it all (including the re-structuring and cleaning of your registry) and you should be mostly problem free while not sacrificing space (virtual memory and etc.) on you comp. Your comp. will run noticeably faster too!!!

AVG is totally worthless. It is JUNK. I recommend active virus shield. It is the best and it is free.
