Our dreams are 'seen' only by what we have experienced, think of that dream you have of being able to fly unaided, we cannot fly like a bird and can never experience it so we are without a real reference point.
A blind person doesn't 'see' or visualise when awake but will interpret and experience the world using the senses that they have, they don't 'imagine' the world around them, it's not some delusional belief that only they have, it is real, this is how their dreams will be these dreams will be of 'all the everyday things we take for granted' just not the way that you perhaps experience it,

A very good question...would tend to agree with most the other replies I guess.
If they they have never seen the world how could there brain produce the images? then again as an artist by trade I use my imagination to visualize things that aren't in front of me all the time....but then if I'm honest a lot of the time I still use some form of reference to start with...hmm
Mind you it is possible to visualize through touch, so if a friend handed you an object whilst you were blindfolded and then took the object away, I but you could probably draw a good likeness...but again I guess as someone with sight you would probably just be referencing images in your mid of things you had already seen!....Wow! this could really mess your head up! lol...Guess the only way to find out for shore is to ask a blind person.

I have wondered about this for years and thought I was the only one to think that way. I spoke to a blind person about this once but the answer would only have been understood by another blind person, if you understand what I mean.
Do we (sighted people) dream in colour or black and white and do we not 'sense' things in dreams. Many of us can't remember what we have dreamt about but know that it was either good or bad. So we are remembering the feelings so perhaps that is what blind people are experiencing.

Of course they see in their dreams!
When you dream, you 'see' entities which you correlate with someone or something you know, or something which you *Imagine*. Thus, being blind does not take away any characteristic of the visual aspect, but the actual sight. To be more precise, blind people can still have originality and imagination, i would even suggest that their imagination reaches a higher level than a normal person's, due to the fact that everything that's related to seeing, is imagined by them.
When you dream, you don't necessarily have to see your mom's hair length, colour, her earrings, eye colour, her usual lipstick or blouse. It's enough to even see a small light, like a ghost, to imagine a smell while you sleep, and you just know it's your mother you're dreaming of. Blind people, even though they can't see the real colours or shapes of some objects or other individuals, can dream about them in the shape and form they IMAGINE them in, even if those aspects aren't accurate.
So yes, blind people do see in their dreams.

All dreams are the result of imagination which may or not be
prompted by actual facts. As far as the blind are concerned,
I would guess it is similar but, for an exact answer, I think
that you should ask a blind person.

I'm not blind, so I can't speak from experience, but I read something on this topic once that said that blind people dream of the sensations they experience while awake - their brain would not be able to conjure up an actual image, having never experienced it.

I've wondered that myself......the thing is, if they do, blind from birth, how could they describe what they haven't seen. I mean, one could feel the shapes of things, but to visualize something that has never been seen, would be an interesting question posed to someone who is blind, not to insult them, just to find out if they do..

This is a really good question.
I would imagine the brain can't create images if it has never seen any.
I hope you get some good sensible answers
