We had been togther for 4 years. I did not break it off. She is qualified for the position, but our I do not know if I can look at her from a professional point of view. I still have very strong love for her.

Do not hire her. You will regret it. There are a lot of candidates out there just as qualified. I'm sure she is counting on you to hire her as well.... Just don't do it. Your heart will break each day you see her.

Ethically speaking, it would be wrong of you not to hire her if she is the most qualified applicant. However, if it is possible, try to position her in an area where you will be in contact the least, or try to transfer yourself.

If that is not possible, then be as professional as you can. It would also be good if you spoke with her and came to an agreement that you would both be on courteous, fair, and professional terms, and that any bad blood or old wounds would be kept for other non-business times.

And stick by your end of the bargain regardless of whether or not she does. ESPECIALLY, if you're going to be her superior. Always take into account the other employees and take care not to favor her (or ignore her) in your work relationship.

It depends on how she looks at you. Does she think that she was hired because of your previous relationship? You put yourself in bind. You still have feelings? Does she? If she does then things can be as you want them to be...keeping it "professional" is out of the question. The other employees will quickly pick up on that. You better hope that she thinks it's over....maybe you'll have a chance. If you hired her bacause you wanted to pick up where you left off. You've got trouble if she doesn't feel the same.

Good Luck....she'll have you over a barrell

I would say that's a huge conflict of interest. If it will cause problems in your line of work, and you will be forced to work together on a regular basis I'd say no. Hire another qualified applicant. If it's in a totally different area from you, then it may be okay. Depends on what you do for a living I guess.

Since you still love her, it would not be advisable to offer her an office position because you will not be able to relate to her in an entirely professional manner. Remember you are human, not a robot.

That's a tough one, but frankly, it's better to cut it off now, than after she's hired and on for good. I would think the stress alone for you would hinder your job. I don't know what kind of person she is, but maybe, it would be a problem for you down the road if she claims your harassing her or .... whatever. Since you still feel so strongly for her, my opinion is NO!

You have to leave you personall life at home i know it is hard but you kinda have to hire her i mean if she is qualified and she can do it then you should hire her. If you did not know her you would of hired her so just bc you went out with her you should not punish her for that. Plus she maybe able to sue you bc she would know why you did not hire her.

If she is qualified higher her, maybe that might score some points to get back with her. The closer you are together the better.

This isnt a wise desicion on your part, That is why 99% of companies refuse to hire close relatives or girlfriends/boyfriends and they discourage relationships with employees. I wouldnt push it... she may have qreat qualifications but its still ultimately up to you.
