I'm a chinese history geek and this year, I'm currently reading Peter Hessler's Oracle Bones, which connects China's history to China today. It's pretty much his life as a foreign journalist from 1998 to I think 2002ish--it came out this past May. I like his writing and got introduced to him by my professor and by reading his other memoirs--Rivertown--another great read about his 2 year stint as an American Peace Corps English teacher in China. If you're not too into memoirs you can also try Family by Ba Jin/Pa Chin. It's more soap opera and more on the sad type. Enjoy! (I couldn't help but give more than 1 favorite)

The Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts (Morrigan's Cross, Dance of the Gods, Valley of Silence). Amazingly entertaining book. I literally couldn't put them down. It's been a week since I finished them and I'm still obsessed with the story and the characters. Action, Romance, Magic, Vampires, it's all so good.

Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich
Book no.12 in series, very funny in a sitcom kind of way but a stressless, entertaining and easy read.

"The Sharing Knife: Beguilement" by Lois McMaster Bujold -- kind of a fantasy story gone super-romance. I'm a *huge* LMB fan, though. You can get a free sample of her work at the Baen Publishing site -- look in their free library for "Mountains of Mourning."

Oh, and of course EOS has the first three chapters of her work up, too. Here's the link:

enjoy!

Bryce Courtenay's Brother Fish. 100% It is huge read but compelling. Loved it, but then I am a fan of his. Being Australian helps.

I am fairly certain my favorite book has yet to be released. It is Michael Crichton's new book, NEXT. I love Crichton and he has yet to disappoint me in any way. The book is to be released November 28..and I can't wait!
