Rearrange the equation so that you get it in the form of the equation of a straight line, that is in the form y = ax +b.
You get 2y = -x -2
Divide through by 2 anf you get:
y = -x/2 -1
the -x/2 term is -1/2 times x, so compare this with the equation of a straight line and you see that a = -1/2. b is -1.
a is the slope or gradient of the line so the answer is -1/2. Not that it has aminus sign so that tells you it slopes upwards from RIGHT to Left.
b is the intercept on th y axis. So the line crosses the y axis at y = -1.

you can directly get the slope of it just by converting it to it's slope intercept form( y=mx+b) where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.
thus:
x+2y=-2
(x+2y)-x=-2-x * to transfer x, subtract it
on both side of the
equation.
2y=-x-2
2y/2=(-x-2)/2 *to eliminate 2, divide
both side of the equation
by 2
y= -x/2-1
*by looking in the form of the equation now, the slope (m) is equal to -1/2 ( -x/2 is equal to -1/2 x) and it's y intercept is -1.

y = mx + b (slope/intercept formula) m = slope ; b = y axis - intercept
x + 2y = -2
2y = -x -2
y = -x/2 -2/2
slope = rise/run
so... the slope = -1/2

x+2y= -2
first isolate the y
x+2y= -2
-x -x
_______________
2y= -2 - x
_______________
divide everything by 2
y= -1 - x/2
so your answer is (-1/2, -1) (ps remember the
-1/2 is rise and run, -1 is the y intercept (starting point) ) hope this helped!!!!

solve for y and you'll end up with something similar to this:
y = mx + b
so that would be y = -1x/2 - 1
the slope is m, and it is -1/2
