In one of the books I have read was a picture of fossilised footprints of humans beside dinosaur footprints so it could be possible.
But Drangons and Serpents are rife in Mythology and not just in China, Japan and the Aztecs stories.

Where it is possible that a Dinosaur got mistaken for a Dragon, I believe that the Komodo Dragon off the island of Komodo is as close as we'll get. I also believe that at one point the Komodo's were scattered all over the place and some poor guy was attacked, survived, and went home complaining about the fire of the bite. Ever play a game where a group sits in a circle and some starts by telling something to the person to the right, but by the time it makes it back to the originator, the story has completely changed? I think that's what happened here....

It is quite possible that the legends of Dragons were based on accounts of some as yet unknown creature, or of several creatures combined. As with many legends, the accounts would have changed over time so that eventually the original creature would no longer be recognizable. It could very well be that some long extinct creature was the model for what has been described as a dragon by more modern accounts.

As an aside...the word in Chinese for Dinosaur is the same as their word for Dragon...

It does make you wonder, doesn't it? Every culture around the world has a dragon mythos in it, so it does not take such a stretch of imagination to see these creatures living at one time. Our world is still a vast place, and not all of it has been explored. Who's to say that one day they won't find some evidence of dragons?

I don't see why not.

They found a dino with chambers in it's head that could be used for chemical reactions.

There is already a beetle with simlar chambers in it's rear that creats a noxius blast of 400 digree steam out.

Wouldn't be to much of a streach to beleave the dino could have shot burst of flame out of it's head/mouth..... or least very very hot gass.

Wouldn't be much more of a means of deffence to make an attacker run... but still..... agenst a smaller animal like a human would do a good bit more than just chase them off.

Can you just imagine what ancient, and not so ancient people, must have thought when they accidentally unearthed dinosaur bones? Naturally, they tried to explain those unexplainable finds the best they could. Dragons were pretty close, if you think about it.

I don't know any dinosaur that comes very close to classical depictions of dragons, without resorting to a chimera.
