Absolutely YES!

Definitely NO!

And that's the truth! (maybe)

The point is that "truth" is in eye of the beholder and what may be truth to one, may not be truth to another...

The best possible explanation of "Truth" I have ever heard, came from a cartoon my daughter was watching called "Fairly Odd Parents".

It said simply "In an infinite universe where reality is interpreted through our continuously fluctuating perception providing any kind of absolute definitive proof of anything becomes little more than speculation based on random data."

Truth is relative to the viewpoint of the individual expressing an event or idea.

Two people can witness the same event, yet give diametrically opposing statements. It is the manner in which we interpret ideas or events, even events we have witnessed with our own eyes, which determines that which we perceive to be "Truth".

This is the reason there are so many, and so widely varied Christian denominations in the world today. Two people can both be quoting from the same chapter and verse of the Bible, yet both be defending diametrically opposing positions.

So does "Truth" exist? Yes, but in a very subjective and relativistic manner.

"Truth" does exist.

Truth is sometimes relative.
For example the statement :
"One should always drive on the right side of the road" is true in U.S.A. but is false in U.K.

Many truths are relative to context, environment, society, family,
friends and government, beliefs, creeds etc.

Such relativeness of truths give truths another dimension, specifically :
Some truth are more true than other ones.
Still some truths are even more true than the previous ones !!!

Is there something like absolute truth ?

The answer is ------ >

Yes.
What is the proof ?

The answer to this question is ---- >
Know truth to understand truth.

How to know the truth ?

> Go on a search. A true search.
But go ahead with tact to avoid pitfalls and unpleasant
experiences.

The art is to go on a true search with tact so that you don't hit
a pothole and do not suffer much on your way where you are searching !

Well does this sound difficult ?
Then what in the life is easy ?
Even to make pancakes is not easy - it requires efforts.

How can the knowledge of the truth be so easy, dear ?

If there is any truth, it must exist because whatever doesn't exist is no truth.

However, one way to define truth is that which doesn't change over a long long period of time relative to the timespan of the observer. In other words, truth is only relative to the observer, since anything and everything must change provided the requisite timespan for its change has elapsed.

Defining truth is such folly.
Truth is not the same as fact. "A truth" "The truth" denotes facts and not the evaulative ascription of truth. Of course facts are true, and while you all may quibble on what facts are real, truth itself is fixed. Truth will never stand for falsity. The fact may be demoted to falsehood in the end, but truth itself never will . You would have to judge 'truth' with a higher order guage, which would make nonsense like "It's true that the truth is false".

Personally, I think that TRUTH exists and that it is something that is relative or subjective. I think that there can never be a universal truth becuase all men have different beliefs. For instance, my truth can never be another person's truth because we see and understand things differently being that we are both unique individuals.

Thus, I think that PERSONAL TRUTH exists and that UNIVERSAL TRUTH does not exist.

=)

You need to define truth first. For a given value of truth, there is always truth. For example while it's true that I love coffee, it's equally true that I cannot stand it a lot of the time. It's true that I love my parents to death but it's also true that I hate them at the same time deep down somewhere. So what is truth? It is only what you make of it. IMHO :)

Truth is like faith, if you believe it exists then it does and if don't believe then it doesn't. Truth is a very relative word and it all depends on the point of reference. What may be true for you may not be true to others.

Yes " Truth " does exist. So does lies too. Here is one you ask anyone " do you clip your nails? " those who do not clip their nails will have really long nails, and if they are short there is a good chance that the person clips their nails which therefore, can't not lie. If they do, you can say "how does your nail get so short, it does not clip it self" then they will say " yea, I do clip my nails" which means they just told the truth. Truth actually does exist, that is proof.
