In which French colony does an ethnic group named Nayaks stay?

I saw I movie set in this country, I suspect Cameroon. The Nayaks murdered an army general called Theo. Can somebody perhaps give me more information?

(a) France has not had colonies in Africa since the 1960s. It converted some former colonies to overseas departments, but all its African possessions were given independence.
(b) Cameroon had been a German colony, but after the First World War, the League of Nations gave part to the French for administration under mandate, and the other part to Britain.
(c) There does not appear to be an African tribe called Nayak.
