No it doesn't hurt your baby. The scratchiness is your skin stretching combined with your hormone change. You can use skin creams while your body adjusts. You can also get a vitamin E cream which may help reduce stretch marks. The only thing that will hurt your baby is pounding on your stomach.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, its very normal to have an itchy belly as your skin is stretching. Its not going to hurt your baby starching but its better to try other remedies, like moisturizing your stomach with vitamin e cream or a stretch mark cream. Scratching may be good for now but it will not make it go away, by softening your skin it should soften and ease the itching. I wish you all the very best. and hope it works.

It doesnt harm your baby, but you will have some really nasty ugly stretch marks. When my mother was pregnant and she was so itchy she would where a muscle shirt and rub baby olive oil on her belly and with the muscle shirt she would place the palm of her hand on her belly and rub. She never got stretch marks left after 4 kids. Try it it works.

No, it won't harm the baby. Your skin is itchy because your skin is stretching. Take it easy with the comb though!

Iknow exactly what yoy mean, ive had a really itchy tummy, i think its o.k to scratch it with anything you want just dont do it too hard! try using some sort of lotion or moisturising cream to try to sooth the itciness and the scratches you might give yourself. good luck for the future.

It's okay to scratch it, it is probably itching because your skin is stretching to accommodate a growing baby. Try cocoa butter for pregnant women! Congrats!

Contrary to what babynetime says scratching does NOT cause stretch marks. PREGNANCY and your belly growth causes stretch marks. Try using cocoa butter lotion or aloe on your tummy when it itches.

Mild scratching will not hurt the baby but don't DIG into your skin, that's not good for you. Try rubbing instead of scratching.

Get some moisturizer and apply it every hour or so to help keep your skin soft and take away the itch.
