His power was snatched, his sons killed in cold blood and now his death sentence. True Saddam was a bad man but he had his goods to. He was secular and respected the rights of women. Where else in the Arab world would you find women enjoying the same rights and no other religion can be practised other than Islam. I really feel sorry for him.

However evil he may be let us not forget that he is human too.

Wow. What do we need Sean Hannity for? You liberals make fools of yourselves all on your own. You feel SORRY for Saddam Hussein? SADDAM HUSSEIN? The heartless dictator? Need I remind you of the thousands of innocent lives lost under Saddam's power? HE KILLED HIS OWN PEOPLE. He raided Kurdish villages with chemical weapons, killing both soldiers and townspeople, including women and CHILDREN. And you feel sorry for him? Because he's a "secularist" and he respected the rights of women? First of all, secularism is not exactly a universally-renowned form of government. Just because YOU like it doesn't mean it's good for a government (ever heard of a thing called Communism?). And second, it's kind of hard to respect women's rights when you're KILLING THEM. I think you need to re-examine your research, but in the mean time, check yourself into a decent mental health clinic, you sick freak. Anyone who sympathizes for him is an outright MORON.

Why would someone feel bad for someone dying that killed over 500 people!!! Who knows how many lives he had destroyed??? He is a criminal and who cares about if he lives or not! If we did not execute Saddam he probably would have killed even more people maybe some more bombing in the United States. There are some bad people in the world, but Saddam is not one of them, he is worse.

Do you know this guy pushed for the death penalty? Watch the news! He even asked to be killed by a firing squad! He wanted it! He knows that a lion should not be caged up but if has to better off dead. His options are difficult on us and on him. He can be sent to prison where many will try to kill him one by one or all together! Or we can send him to prison where he will for a new cult and we wont be able to prosecute him again for the same things! In any case there is no win win the damage is done! He has followers! If you feel sorry let him move into your neighborhood and become your president! That will change your mind!

Sorry, don't know if that is the word i would use, but I do have compassion for him, considering the ethnic makeup of his country and the historical battles between the groups. One might take the view that what he did is not much different than what every powerful leader has done throughout history. His history just happens to be recent and recorded, and unfortunately he like many other of today's dictators made the unwise decision to get into bed with the Americans. Look at history books and how they have been re-revised and in some cases completely re-written by the worlds governments in order to white wash and glorify the dirty deeds of their ex halted leaders, who carried out wholesale genocide, slavery and colonization in the name of God and self-gratification, Hitler, Stalin, Napoleon, Khan, etc.. The Amercians are more brutal than any American would care to admit.
I can never condone what Saddam has done, but God is judge and at some point in every mans history, will his past catch up to him.

Saddam gets hanged, but what about dictators like Mugabe in Zimbabwe and al-Bashir in Sudan?

Not to mention the recent massacres the Chinese army committed against Tibetan civillians. Bush seems to have no problem with China, though. I wonder why...?

I Don't believe in the death penalty. For me it is like I'm pulling the switch. Life in prison is to good for him. Maybe life in prison in Mexico would be a good punishment for him. I am waiting for the pay-per-view of his death, in this civilized society. (Ugh!)

of the half million thought to have been killed at his order, probably 1/4 were women, and they were very likely "entertained" before death. Still, the death penalty is wrong.
