Depending on where you live, the police or child protective services can and will take a baby away from a mother who tests positive for street drugs.

I think that just about all hospitals give some form of a drug test either before or after delivery. They will be able to tell if she has done any drugs toward the end of her pregnancy. One of my friend did some drugs for a few months while she was pregnant because ahe thought she was going to get an abortion. She chickend out and had the baby. She quit doing any drugs druing the second half of her pregnancy. She now has a beautiful little boy. And as far as we can tell he is healthy.
Not trying to make it sound like it is ok to do drugs at all, I fussed at her the whole time!!!
I told the father of the baby and he straighted her out when he treatened to take the child away, but she did pass a drug test when she delivered.
A drug test during delivery is just like any other. If you smoke pot and wait a month or two, how ever long it takes to get out of your system, and take a test you can pass that two. If you are really concerned contact child services about testing her now!!!

Not really sure what the question is...however, drinking while pregnant can lead to fetal alcohol syndrome and drugs can cause numerous amounts of birth defects. Unless the doctor gives the mom to be a drug test or performs an amniocentesis (injects a long needle into the mother's tummy and into the placenta and draws fluid) which is used to screen for down syndrome and other birth defects it is unlikely he will know for sure if she is a drug user. Although, if she is indeed using drugs, the doctor will hopefully recognize her symptoms when she is in for a visit.

Crystal meth doesn't stay in the placenta, it travels to the baby as well. She should be warned about that.
"A single prenatal dose of methamphetamine -- commonly known as speed -- may be enough to cause long-term neurodevelopmental problems in babies, say University of Toronto researchers."

What is wrong with your friend???
How can she do meth and be pregnant?
What a selfish thing to do and she will have a baby with all sorts of physical and mental problems, this baby will pay a lifetime for this womans habit.
