I'd like to serenade a woman, just once. But I don't have the courage to do so.

I don't have the courage to actually live my life to the fullest.
As for you, maybe your neighbours just wonder why you went from no hijab or burka to hijab. Maybe they think you've become some extremist or something. Maybe people in the mall feel uncomfortable because of all the things in the news every day. If you're a Muslim, you know that not all Muslims are anti-peace and anti-acceptance of others. The news always shows bad news. There's no news about Muslims doing charity work and so on.
When I spent time with friends at their house with their husband present or out shopping I also wear a hijab out of respect for them, so as to not insult their beliefs, but I don't wear it when I'm not around them. So, not only am I not a Muslim or believer in any religion, I suppose this makes me a hippocrite as well. Lol. But I do it to show respect. When others learn to respect you, then you will be more accepted.
Can you go shopping with friends who also wear a hijab? Can you make friends at a local Arab Centre or mosque? Sometimes not being alone is a help.
Even the Amish people in Pennsylvania get stared at, you know.
People with scars or burn scars get stared at. People with walkers (frames) or wheelchairs or crutches get stared at. People who are "too tall" or "too short", fat people, bony skinny people... they all get stared at. Don't take it so personally.

Listen DJ... I'm from Canada too. Québec to be precise! And where I'm from, we don't let anybody curse our soul. We just listen to what they have to say, and if it's right, we swallow...If it's wrong, we don't follow! You are one sexy chick and from the looks of it you are scared to be ... Be what you believe in. Join the club that IAM not a part of anymore...

I want to scream out: "You think I'm beautiful ... so I must be dumb and can't cook! Well, I am NOT dumb and I CAN cook!"
People are afraid of what they don't know or understand.
