Only if you have a job already.

Millions of Texans are looking for employment, and that includes the thousands of high school students who graduate high school and don't go on to college.

The cost of real estate isn't as high, but utilities and auto insurance are pretty expensive. Schools rank in the bottom half of the nation, but you can find good public schools with effort.

Not the most techological advanced state and cellphone service is still pretty unreliable.
The weather is good in most places, in South Texas it's 90 in November. Beaches are awesome and in some places, not very crowded. The bigger cities have lots to do, not so much if you get more than 100 miles from them.

Good luck...

I love it here! I grew up in NW Indiana - East Chicago and Hammond/Gary. Now I live in San Antonio. People here are so nice and the crime rate is so much lower than what I was used to. (surprisingly, the news is always talking about crime)

There's no state income tax, but they (a very all encompassing word - "they") collect the dollars through much higher property taxes. Because of this, the taxing basically comes out about the same...

Weather..... there's hot, Hot, and HOT. I moved here to play golf 12 months out of the year, and yes, you can. Funny, native born Texans will dress their kids in parkas when it hits about 50 degrees!!! I meet alot of "snow birds" on the courses in December and January. I do miss having seasons, but in 14 years have not had to shovel snow even once!!!

It really depends on your definition of sweet and what you are comparing it. Personally my experience is that it is one big bug infested arm pit. Boring is another word that comes to mind. the big dirty is another word to decribe it. I've lived in Northern California all my life so I am probably spoiled.
