The Southwest is a huge area. It depends on whether you're talking about the deserts, coasts, mountains, or whatever. In the populated areas, we still have coyotes, possums, racoons, and small deer. If there are hills or mountains nearby, there may also be bears or cougars. I see hawks, crows, and sea gulls fairly often, and I live in a metropolitan area. I heard an owl, too, recently, but that surprised me.

We have lots of deer, some cougar, rattlesnakes, roadrunners, crows, falcons, hawks, turkey buzzrds, and rumor has it desert turtles.
