Honestly? I don't think there's anything wrong with any of the old classic cartoons - want to know why? This is the reason:

THE PARENTS

If more parents would just sit down with their kids (like my wife and I do with our son) and explain to them that cartoons are not real, they are just make believe, and help them understand that they don't do the things they see in cartoons, instead of just leaving them sitting in front of their tv sets like little zombies, that there would be less problems with the up and coming younger generation........

Tom And Jerry are completely harmless. I've watch Tom and Jerry,Looney Toons and The Three Stooges and I didn't grow up to be a serial killer(I also eat red meat and own a BB Gun btw). School violence is caused by poor parenting and a lack of good old fashioned discipline. Maybe what the real question should be is "Why Aren't Frauds Like Phil McGraw Rotting In Prison Like The Nazis They Are?" We've become too reliant on Psycho Babble and the like instead of taking responsibiliy for one's self and one's children.I dont by into the "James Bond Made Me Do It" mentality of our society. I think most of that is a cop out and not productive

Well, despite the news that Tom & Jerry as well as some other cartoons will have cigarette scenes that deplict smoking in a positive way will be takin out. I do agree that parents should still teach their children that the violence on this old school cartoons should not be immitated and even enlighten them on how they watched them when they were kids. Don't let the television become any kid's babysitter. That's what matt parker & trey stone said. And they created a cartoon which is strictly not for children (South Park).

I've never run into any kid (including my own) that thought anything that happened on Tom and Jerry was real. By the time they're old enough to be entertained by the show, they're old enough to figure out that it's make-believe!

Yes, they should.

It is a classic cartoon that showcases the chase. It is harmless and won't make kids stupid like pokemon or dragonball z.

Let them watch classics like looney tunes and tom and jerry and woody woodpecker and heckell and jeckell. They won't understand most of the jokes or references till they are adults, but they can still enjoy a good chase cartoon.

It's much better than a lot of the mindless sh!t that's on tv for kids nowadays, that's for sure. This newest generation of kids is going to be terribly shallow, desensitized to violence, with a terribly short attention span.
sometimes the old ways are the best ways.

I think they should because they are so funny! lol
Every kid needs some humor in their lives. Tom & Jerry aren't really that influencial on violence, not influencial on drugs or profanity.
It made me laugh growing up watching them on TV and I still ike their antics.
