if you go to fashion school, this should be a no brainer. i believe vhi did a special on this topic, so maybe you could check their web site. heres a few donts...mom jeans, exposing your stomach and cleavage at the same time, wearing stripes with plaid, shopping in the junior department if you are over 30. hope that helps!

i don't know much about fashion, and i know it's not current fashion do's and dont's, but the person above me gave an idea. The best would be to look in a magazine's do's and don'ts of fashion, but not a current one. If you have time, unless this project is due tomorrow (Ha!), you should go to the library and look up references to the old and archived magazines. Good Luck!!!
*My bad, i thought you were talking about 1950s do's and dont's, in that case i'm sure if you have a fashion magazine around or if you look up a current or old article of something on a fashion or magazine site, you should find something.

I think it might have something to do with the Glamour magazine's "Fashion Do's and Dont's" that they list at the end of each issue.
I would suggest looking at the Glamour website, or maybe an entertainment television channel's website, like VH1 or E!. I know that I have seen some programing on this.

try looking at seventeen and cosmo websites and browsing fashion magazines. if that doesn't help here are some to remember:
do's
keep comfort in mind
mix different textures
add spunk to a plain outfit with an animal print belt or bag
be original
buy items you can mix and match
liven up a simple outfit with colored pumps/shoes
don'ts
wear a printed top and bottom together
dress yourself in all leather for a tough look
