We tried several with both of our daughters until we found the one's they liked. Several of the no-air designs work well but it doesn't matter much if the baby doesn't take it. I'd recommend getting one of those sampler packs from Baby's-R-Us or elsewhere. I would also recommend breast feeding in addition to the bottle. There are a gazillion articles about it online so I won't bore you with the details.

I used playtex nursers with all my children (4) and it was great. You can push the air out of the bag and then the baby can suck and not have to keep pulling their mouth off the nipple for the bottle to work.
I never had a problem with colic or gas with any of my children. I loved these bottles, easy to clean and all you have to do is change the baggie. Best bottle ever!

I've use the Gerber bottles - they are okay. But I've heard awesome things about the Playtex bottles.

My wife and I tried using the playtex, but he spewed vast quantities with it. So we didn't use it anymore.
We played with a few other brands before we settled on the Avent. It has something to do with the nipple on it being crooked at an angle. Either way, he liked it and kept his formula down.

I liked the Playtex nursers with the drop-ins. They were easy and my babies never had gas problems.

I like playtex's VentAire wide's myself. Less air in the belly means less spit up. They did wonders for my newborn.

Playtex nurser bottles

They have less air in them which means less gas and fussiness in your baby

Good luck
