Even though the media has a tendency to influence voters, it is always best to examine your own beliefs and ideologies and see which candidate best suits you. The League of Women Voters does a nice job of comparing candidates in a non-biased way.

I take a lot of things into consideration, but the thing that's on the bottom of my list is any information from a political ad.
I look at the candidate's statements, who supports or doesn't support them, recommendations from various groups.
And BTW, the League of Women Voters is not part of the "big" media. They're a bipartisan informational group.

I vote for who I know will represent me and the issues I care about or at least the one that comes closest, or who will do me the least amount of harm. The media doesn't know anything, you need to read and study and pay attention and think critically in order to make an informed decision. You know that most people don't even know that almost everything about the life of anyone in public office is public information and easy to look up. Like the fact that everyone likes to say that Bush is an oil man, but most democrats in office today have stock in oil companies. Think about what some democrats say they will do about oil if their party wins and then think of how stupid they would be to hurt there own investments. Now do you think they are lying or do you think they are stupid, they have to be one or the other according to some of the statements they make.

The 'media' will always support the one who will do most for them, big business, big religion, and big money!..Most things politicians say is scripted by the people who 'own them' anyway!..Its really easy to be cynical about politics and the 'media' particulaly in America!..The media corporate giants clearly support the Republicans, even to the point of censoring news in the USA to promote a Republican agenda!..It seems the worst offender in this, is to my shame, a fellow Australian!..By and large, the news you get in the USA, is entirely different to the news the rest of the world gets!.So, yes, many people will vote the way the 'media' tells them too, because they seldom get the other side of the debate!....

I almost choked when I read the word media . The drive-by media is not reliable when it comes to the weather , let alone who I should vote for . I read up on the candidates in my party , Republican-because they best represent issues important to me -like national security and the economy . The media is a bias left-wing organization who only tells you what they want you to know .

I read the newspapers, Time magazine, listen to TV and radio and, best of all, I watch shows which interview politicians especially when they aren't running for office. TV shows to watch: Larry King, Face the Nation, CNN, Fox. After all of this, I make up my mind. I do not vote based upon who the newspapers, etc tell me is best. My newspaper is obviously conservative as is Fox. CNN is more liberal. So they tend to lean in one direction. Do you think Rush Limbaugh is conservative? (ha, ha)
