I know. It seems like such a retarded question, but I guess I'm a social retard. I'm horribly lonely all the time. Do any of you know some good ways to make friends. I'm 37, so I don't go to school any more. Thanks for any helpful ideas.

"In order to have friends, you have to be friendly". Get out and hang out at social places... coffeehouses, bookstores, music stores, wherever singles hang out. Invite your coworkers for happy hour, etc.... Always be friendly, smile and say hi... start up a conversation, give someone a compliment...

Ok That is number one o the list of things you can do. Go to a community college and teke something interesting. You will meet people there with which you have something in common. Joining a club is ok, but you won't broaden yourself that way.
The first thing to remember is: If you want friends, you must first be a friend. I take note that you do not allow IM's nor Emails. That is one thing you can change to open yourself up a little. Communicating on the net can be a rewarding experience.

Try to attend Group Therapy sessions or meetings somewhere as a guest or something. Such meetings usually provide use full information and are also interesting. You can help others and make friends with them there.

What are you into?
If you like movies, then go to the movies a lot and talk to random people there. If you like music then go to concerts and talk to random people there.
Get thee to the internet and find clubs etc. in your area. For the most part these are full of great people who will welcome you in. Most of the time you'll only go to a couple of actual meetings, then you'll just meet up with select people for coffee, or whatever.

Join clubs, charitible organizations, go to religious instuitutions, become part of a political party or better, an acitivist movement..

Make friends at work.
Talk to your neigbors, invite them for dinner sometimes. Frequent local bars.
