Black magic spells are powered by fear. YOURS! If you don't believe it and don't fear it, it has no power over you. However, if it will help, Prayer can break any spell. God has more power than any dark magic in the Universe. God is light and love and truth. Black magic is - well Dark magic basically. Light always wins over dark! Good Luck!!

Why is this in "Words and Wordplay?"

What you need is Defense Against the Dark Arts, or DADA, for short. (Does anyone know if that's the origin of the term in art history?)

The response obviously depends on the nature of the spell. Basically, what you must do is gather what some have called The Force within yourself and build your shield. This is done through meditation, contemplation and action. Again, the details will depend on the nature of the suspected attack.

Decide, for example from which Quarter the attack comes. This would be obvious if you were a trained magician, but basically, the Quarters correspond to compass directions, dominant element (fire, water, air, earth), symbolic color, best incense, etc. Once you have decided which Quarter it comes from, your ritual to raise a cone of protection is based on that quarter.

It's all really way too much to describe here. Start by meditating while sitting cross-legged, if possible, facing the quarter from whence the attack comes. Get your back really straight, so your spine works in proper balance, and meditate on your defenses.

You are stronger than you know.

There is no such thing as Magic spells unless you actually ingest something foreign (a chemical or poison from an enemy or adversary). If your doctor cant find anything after a thorough examination don't worry about it. Worrying about a non-existent spell is the worse spell. When I was A kid back in the West Indies I went into my neighbor's yard and climb his avocado tree and picked some fruit. While there I saw a bottle hanging from a branch filled with a dark emulsified liquid. Of course I was scared outta my wits and told my mother. She told me not to worry that it was just a ploy to stop kids from stealing fruit. then she whipped my azz and told me never to steal fruit again. I was never afraid of spells from that day.

You're in luck! You are also probably about to itch rather badly, but I can help you.

Black magic is nothing more than the placebo effect working backwards. The more you believe the more it effects you. A significant portion of spellcasting is making your victim believe you hold magical powers. I should know. I use hexes occasionally, although I find the framework of Crowley more satisfactory than voodoo. The curious thing is that I can design my own hex, and as long as the recipient believes it is real it works! The moment they stop believing, the effect drops to zero. I will now give you the simplest of all curses (don't worry not dangeros) to practice your skepticism:

I CURSE YOU WITH A PERSISTENT ITCH! PERSISTENT ITCH! ITCH!

This is one of my own. Technically, this incorporates suggestion-driven magic too but if you think I am a total idiot and don't itch you will definitely be safe from your average voodoo caster.

I have seen black magic work.. and it can be devsatating.. this was when I was in Africa.. An African can dislike someone(as I saw it work on one young guy).. the person who wants to do harm will go to the witch doctor and pay him.. he must bring something that belongs to the person to whom the harm is to bes done and I saw the harmed guy go from a handsome guy full of life to near death(He happened to be from Algeria) and his parents moved the boy back to Algers. Yes, it does work and to break the spell, one would have to go to a good witch doctor there and pay him to break the spell.. those people are called the Grande marabous. BUT BUT BUT.. It could NEVER work on me because it has to do SOLELY with believing that harm would or could come and I do not believe and thus, I could NEVER be affected.

I don't believe in this stuff generally, but sometimes I get creeped out and in a weird frame of mind. If I can't talk myself out of it, then I imagine myself in a bubble, deflecting any evilness. And I "sweep out" the evilness that's still inside the bubble.

Hey, not logical, I know, but believing in black magic isn't very logical, either.

I like the observation that if you yourself feel guilty about something, you are more likely to work yourself into a state -- and you should try to make amends. I never thought of this before.

Hi

Remember, YOU are the master of your universe. So, if you think you're being cursed, you're in actuall fact allowing that other person to do it. Are you feeling guilty about something? Once you realise that you have some control, acknowledge your own faults, ask for forgiveness, then that "curse" will lift.

Remember, it's all karma, baby. What goes around, comes around. You probably deserve to be hated but a curse is extreme. What did you do?

Simple, don't believe in it. Remember, "Magic, belief is half the power".

You pray the following prayer: Heavenly Father, You are the mighty and powerful God. If evil in any way, shape or form is attempting to enter my life, my body or my heart, I command - in the precious, healing blood of Jesus Christ - that You cast every bit of it out of my life and have it never return. Send Your glorious, warring angels to surround me and protect me from darkness and show me Your gentle love. Thank You for Your promise to protect me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
