This is kind of a non-issue for me since Michigan already has an ammendment in the State Constitution which blocks not only gay marriage but also civil unions, even those performed in other states.

However, for me personally (and speaking as one who has had this discussion with several homosexual friends):

Gay marriage = Oxymoron... I would vote not to allow it. You CANNOT redefine something that has been defined from the dawn of time.

Civil unions= I fully stand in support of equal rights, so I would vote in favor of civil unions.

I will vote against the gay marriage amendment they are proposing here in TN, which, if passed, would prevent gay marriage. I am a conservative but do not feel I have the right to tell others how to live their life

Gay marriage is the least of Americas problems

** To clarify
The War in Iraq is a much bigger isssue
and I...like the poster below me, have already voted it down in the state of Ohio.

I too believe Marriage has already been defined, but am in favor of civil unions. Human beings all deserve rights.

The Government should not be telling us who we can and can not marry, they should only be involved with the contract law of it . If a church doesn't want to preform the ceremony that would be their right. I would vote not to ban gay marriage, who would they try to ban next?

Can somebody give me a valid reason why it should be disallowed? Please ... something other than "I hate Homos" or "it's in the Bible" ... as I don't consider hatred a valid reason, and using religion as the basis for laws is just ... un-American.

In other words ... WHO DOES IT HURT? Really, can someone explain?

I'm not going to vote.

But if I would vote, I'd vote for legalizing gay marriage.
