i have just found about 5 mealworms in my lizards cage hidden in the moss. they are somewhat swollen in size and it looks like some are twitching!! i am assuming that he is vomiting them. but the question was why? and has this happened to anyone else? my lizard is still a juvenile. thanks in advance.

Usually when a lizard regurgitates its food, that food is dead, and it's found in one clump, not hidden in the substrate. I agree with the answerer who said the mealworms have escaped and pupated, and are preparing to become darkling beetles.

Reptiles, by the way, generally vomit as a result of stress (being handled too often, or too soon after feeding), because of parasites (only your vet can handle this), or sometimes because of being too cold to digest their food properly.

But it really sounds more like you have pupae. Check Google Images for some examples.

He isnt vomiting them they have escaped and are now changing in to a chrysalis get them removed asap as they turn in ti bug things. wen i had my anole i fed him him meal worms and the same thing happened to me. T hey wriggle out whatever youve got em in then start to sweell than go hard then crawl out like a catterpiller/butterfly would. Dont worry about your lizard he is fine!

you need to purchase calcium powder which you airborne dirt and dirt the bugs with the powder or placed a pair of pinch of powder of their tubs and shake the crickets until ultimately they're lined interior the supplement. There are different methods like the spray sort. The reptiles are meant to ''soak up''this calcium liquid by their epidermis.Reptiles can no longer soak up liquid by their scaly skins and in by their bodies.Their epidermis is made to maintain issues out,no longer enable them to in.
