Economy isn't working for Bush because the media puts their spin on every story they do on the economy.
Check this out:
The number of jobs increased between April 2005 and March 2006 not by 5.8 million but by 6.6 million.
The federal budget deficit has been cut in half in three years, three years faster than George W. Bush called for. Why? Tax receipts were up 5.5 percent in FY 2004, 14.5 percent in FY 2005, and 11.7 percent in FY 2006. That's up 34.9 percent in three years. And that's after the 2003 tax cuts. When you cut taxes, you get more economic activity, and when you get more economic activity, the government with a tax system that is still decidedly progressive gets more revenue.

Its not so much the numbers of the economy, but how people are directly affected by it.
Some of the statistics for the economy look good, like the unemployment rate and the DOW. But for the average person, they just arent seeing anything from the economy lately. The median wage has dropped for the last 5 years, and health insurance prices and the cost of living continue to climb.
As to the election, the House looks very good for Democrats, but the Senate is borderline. Most polls have it near 50/50, and several races are just too close to call at this time.

"Why isn't the good economy working in favor of the Republicans like it did for Clinton?"
Because the media has made a constant effort to accentuate the negative and ignore anything positive, including the economy.

The democrats can possibly take the senate - the have 5 of the 6 needed seats, and one that is on the edge( in terms of polls anyway).
The economy isn't as good as you think it is, the DOW jones index for calculating the stocks give higher priced stocks more weighting than lower priced ones, and stocks are well below their peaks. the s&p and nasdaq are both below their 2001 peaks. the housing market is down, while stocks are going up. the economy is doing well, but i don't think it was doing as well as during clinton's reign.
the economy isnt the only thing on the agenda for election

If the Dems take at least five or six seats, even more, then they have full control of the Senate. And with that, comes impeachment time for the incompetent Bush! I believe the GOP did nothing but ignore the bad economy, did nothing to secure the homeland, and the rest of their miserable track record that I won't get into any further; besides, you already have known this!

The mainstream media is largely run and reported by Liberals.
They choose to ignore the good news & report the bad.
It suits their agenda to report everything from the nefative perspective.
The Dems blubbered about a Vast Conspiracy, but I see the Republicans being victimized by it.
