I think some water or infection has occured inside the ear or externally you might have swollen glands behind the ear only then you will feel the heartbeat .

Bad ? no, if you are younger than 55 yo but definitely a sign of high blood pressure.

i actually had this happen and spoke to my doctor about it we discovered that i had a real bad sinus infection he prescribed CORTISPORIN OTIC SUSPENSION . ear drops also, he informed me that my left ear appears to have had some type of trauma to it
