I mothballed my burberry scarf about 5 years ago when the brand was hijacked by chavs and cheap imitation scarfs started appearing on market stalls. My scarf is brilliant quality and really lovely lambs wool which makes it fantastically warm, has the chav burberry craze finished or should I leave the scarf at the back of a draw where it is?

Bolavo- please stop posting things which are obviously there to cause offence or conflict and please read all of the question before posting. My problem is with cheap poorly made counterfeit burberry items and people not knowing the difference. If you can't afford the real thing then buy something else not an imitation, therfore I know they are chavs because they do buy the counterfeit items. You may still think I'm stuck up for not wearing my real burberry item because of this however I would not want people to associate me with the people who are stupid enough to buy the poor quality counterfeits.

I still have my Burberry scarf and bag...................
The chavs put me off too for a bit but i reckon it's how you wear it !!!
If your young and you wear it with a baseball cap then it's chav.....i reckon if your over 30 and are looking smart then you can get away with it !!
Don't let the minority stop us from wearing our REAL Burberry...you can tell the difference anyway.
As long as it's just a key peice then it's fine i reckon x

Yes Burberry is still classed as "chav-wear" But if you have spent a pretty penny on this scarf, Then why be bothered about what people think of you. You bought it because of the quality as well as the look so If It were me then I would say "UP YOURS" to what anyone else thought.

I too remember when burberry was popular, before the chavs made it their own.
I would say a scarg is still OK to wear but avoid anything else with the burberry pattern at all costs.

I think they are going someway to limit damage done to the brand. However I fear that the "Burberry check" has had it's day. Most real Burberry in the shop at the moment doesn't have the check or if it does it is subtle. Perhaps you could sell it on Ebay and put the money towards a new one?

I just went to something that drew a sizable chav population, and saw a horrid acrylic "Burberry" poncho.

I still regularly see other similar bits of bad.

So, yes. You're going to have to keep it in mothballs for _years_. Which is a pity, but.

For a desirable luxury style business enterprise like Burberry it is the proper nightmare. Their different beige verify, as quickly as linked with A-listers, has now grow to be the uniform of a touch different social team: the so-pronounced as Chav. i dont really like it. i think it is kind of chavvy. but i suppose it depends what you wear it with. i think you should keep the scarf, but wait a while till you wear it, so people dont confuse you with a chav!
