I think the death penalty is wrong for a number of reasons!! (1) Murder is murder no matter if governments have legalized it or not. No one has the right to take the life of another human being. (2) There has been so many mistakes made where innocent people have been found guilty of committing a crime that they did not commit and innocent people have been executed. So shall we see all those involved with these cases being charged with murder also? I doubt it!! (3) I know Saddam Hussein has done a lot of wrong but can any government claim that they are completely innocent and never have committed a single wrong act!! There is so much more reasons why i think this punishment should be abolished but that is enough for now!

It's WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. I believe that although the current Iraqi regime may not be a US puppet, they're definitely an illegal gov't that shouldn't be recognised at all. Saddam Hussein should be free & given back his country. He may be a dictator, he may have ruled with an iron fist, but you've got to hand it to him & the Ba'ath Party--they kept the country out of anarchy. Now, people don't even have jobs or running water. We & the new Iraqi regime are completely incompetent & unable to provide the most basic services. Private organisations & NGO's are doin' all the work. That says something.

When you think about all the lives lost at his hand then it can be the only finding. But there must be many others that carried out the same crimes that are free to this day.

People are also concerned about what unrest will occur from his band of supporters afte the decision. We should not let this threat of violence stop us from finding the truth and punishing accordingly. He deserves to die and lets get it over with!

I think its time TO STOP DEATH SENTENCE.....i know that saddam killed and tortured many people,...If u agree with death penalty,...more or less u should agree with other capital punishment ,..such as:stonning to death, eye for an eye,.hand cutting,.. gas chamber and etc other similar punishment.

It is time to show the world MERCY and CIVILIZATION.

Put saddam in jailed all his life...will make him suffer and learn MORE,...and teach people not become TRIGGER HAPPY.

In the USA all parties must enter the courtroom with clean hands. How can any side of this argument claim to be innocent? Its absurd.
Death penalty is wrong for this case only. There was many years where he acted in our best interest. USA put him there in the first place.

Could they have reached any other verdict? I think he is responsible for all those deaths but I also think there are other world leaders with blook on their hands. Saddam just happened to get deposed.

Just hang him. Get him off the planet once and for all. It's the moral equivalent of deciding whether to flush the toilet after "business" has been completed. Just do it and move on.

I hope they got the right one! But seriously is it going to take this long for every demented political or war criminal to be identified, caught & brought to justice. Will there be anyone left to care?
Death penalty - not for it myself, sorry...........

It's right! But not that easy.. he deserves most painful tortures as he did to his own people. Eye for eye.
