i am afraid that you can't get any info from website, but you can always go direct to USM n search around, even the seniors of USM can help. I am not sure whether you have been to Penang, anyway you can always pick a weekend to looks for your room, get there early morning n give yourself plenty of times.[sorry i don't know where you come from]
Even if some one told you there are rooms to rent, you still have to look at it to confirm whether it suit you.
another source is newspaper, but i am in Klang hence can't help you to scan through the room to let section in Penang as i read The Star[ it has two editions, one northern covered Penang, Kedah n Perlis, the other would not has any ads on Penang which i read]
