the league is switching uniform styles next year, but not for goalies; they'll be for everyone. sleeker fit, and not as prone to get soaked and heavy with water/perspiration.

definently not dreaming...see link in post!
...
and i think it would be great for the players because they would know where the goalie is at all times. With a mess of same color jerseys in front of the net, it can become difficult to see the goalie, and sometimes the puck on the goalie. Thats where a different style & color jersey would help the NHL. The jersey will still be team colors, just not the main color the team is using (ex. Brodeur will wear black jersey when Devils wear red, or Lunqvist will wear red when Rangers are blue, etc...). It would also be better for marketing (another jersey to sell!) and for people not familiar with the game to understand it better.
And by the way, all goalies already use the "slimline" jersey in the NHL, its just the same style/color as the rest of the team...but this will change soon. I'm excited! (being a former goalie, I like the idea)

I don't like it I already have a jersey with a goalie's name on the back, I don't want that jersey to be outdated just so the NHL can make a few more bucks.
One time I went to a game where they had the goalies wear the Mississippi ECHL jerseys and it was confusing as hell. I hope they dont do that again.

Once you start copying boring soccer in anything, you're in trouble. No, I don't think it's a good idea. The only reason the jerseys in soccer for goalies are different is so you can tell who the goalie is. In hockey, if you can't tell that the Michelin Man wearing a mask in front of the net is the goalie, then heaven help you.
Sounds like a stupid gimmick to me.

I have cooperated with a good number of distributors in the past but the listed below one in particular is actually the best. They have perhaps numerous different jerseys as well as hard to find kinds that you just cannot buy from all other retail stores. The product quality and service is the top one you might find online with this low price. With this distributor, I am certain you're not going to let you or your customers down..

it has never even been talk about and you must of been dreaming cause they are never going to do that. who the hell told you that one. good night!!!
michinoku...>>> just to let you know that's these rules are pushed on the other leagues to test them out, like the shootout and so on, then if they work, then they bring it to the NHL. the NHL just doesn't take the other leagues ideas, its the NHL ideas. maybe that's what you meant, it just sounded like you said that the NHL is taking the other Leagues ideas that's all.
Justin>>> don't worry its not going to happened it's not even true.
mickym>>> who the hell told you this crap, its not even true and it will never happened. the jerseys are already almost skin tight around their equipement. and with this colour crap it just doesnt make any sence whats so ever if you really watch hockey or a true fan to this sport then you would of thought this to be crap and not true.

I doubt this is going to happen. I don't know of any other league or level of hockey that does this, unless it's a beer-league team that is short of jersies. The NHL gets it's new ideas from other leagues-5 on 5 OT. the shootout, the latest style of goal crease, were all adopted first by other hockey leagues. So I don't see the NHL pioneering something like that.

I remember hearing (very) vague rumours about this too. But I think that's all it is: just rumours. Bettman needs to step down for changing the game this much. I mean, come on, it's easy enough to distinguish the goalie from the rest of the guys on the ice. He's the one with the cool-looking helmet, blocker and catcher, and a bloody giant shin pads.

As for the observer, I don't see why it's necessary to change the colors. With all the cameras available during any given game, I fail to understand it on that point. That's if they want to make it easier to detect illegal goals.
The idea of making the goalies slimmer to increase scoring is absurd to me.

I haven't heard of it yet, but it's a stupid idea. Hockey is a team sport. How is it a team if everyone is wearing different jerseys? Whoever thought of this idea is extremely dumb. Let me guess, was it Bettman?
