Personally, i feel that life's greatest tragedy is the fascination people have with death. So many people think about it constantly that they actually forget to live. They're so worried about when it's going to happen that they don't even think about what they want to do in between.

Personally, I feel that life's greatest tragedy is that Krispy Kreme's doesn't deliver. Seriously...that bugs the hell out of me...it's an epic tragedy in a dozen glazed pieces of doughy perfection.

On a more philosophical level...and to actually give you a proper response to a serious question...I think life's greatest tragedy is the that the majority of people spend their life fearing the unknown. Whether that is a fear of death, as you so aptly wrote, a fear to actually change or try something different....or a fear of people who are different...like if they wear a hijab or something that sets them apart from what they are comfortable with.

Fear of any kind prevents people from achieving, from learning, from experiencing...and that is life's greatest tragedy.

As far as my limited experiences in life go, I think that the greatest tragedy in most human beings, today, is their incessant chasing after money, and then more money - for conspicuously consuming goods that are in in no way going to improve their bodies, minds, souls, or even lives !

I think that life's greatest tragedy is not living. People or anything living for that matter that do not live their life to the fullest

We all are born to this world for a purpose and it is because of this that we live and strive. And it is this driving force that serves as the very essence of our living. Thus life's greatest tragedy is the lost of desire to discover the very essence of life and failure to comprehend the purpose of our living.

The creation of the clock and peoples obsession with time and money... death is a byproduct but I hear you.

I personally only ware a watch if i have to go to work so i don't miss meetings. Most of the time I know what time it is without having to look. Death in time will come if you don't wake up.

the greatest tragedy would be when you're:
- declared a bankrupt
- your wife and kids left you
- all your friends suddenly can't recognise you
- been left on the street and got incurable diseases.
- Stray dogs sniffing around you and run away...

Basically, the greatest life tragedy would be "No money"

Giving up. Settling. Living lives of quiet desperation. Surrendering our dreams & ourselves just to have a so-called normal life, just to be on the treadmill to fit into society (marriage, 2.2 kids, a safe little job, a quiet little life etc). Not really living, just existing. A slow death. No passion. Nothing extraordinary. Nothing meaningful...

I think life's greatest tragedy is the hateful, spiteful, angry people who lash out at others, tell lies about others, who hurt others (physically, emotionally, verbally) because deep down inside they are so miserable that they want to take others down with them ... and they succeed.
