Were Kevin Lowe and Craig Mactavish out of line for ripping into the ref for the blown call that resulted in NO GOAL for Edmonton.
Should they have been rewarded an extra point in the standings like Lowe requested because of this blown call?

They can't give them an extra point--they just can't do that.

The call was awful, I don't blame MacTavish for losing his mind.

But it is an unfortunate part of the game. I do think the refs should be help accountable for really blatant mistakes---in this case the guy just flat out guessed and cost a team the game.

If Edmonton is in a close run for a playoff spot this year this game will be held up again and again, so it IS a big deal.

Course, I remember back in '99 when the Stars again profited by a very questionable call...it was no big deal--they only got the Stanley Cup as a result.

I'm a Stars fan, but I do agree that there were a couple of bad calls made that night, not in favor of Edmonton. They had the right to be upset, but the ref did try to stop the play before he even shot it. Regardless, the ref made a terrible call, and the play should have never been stopped, but alas, it was. And I don't think you can just award an extra point, because Edmonton got ripped off; that would be nice, but I don't think the point system works that way.

No...they shouldn't be awarded the extra point. That would mean that any blown call by the refs down the road could be disputed. Once you do it for one, you open the gates for doing it for others. Unfortunately refs make bad calls. This is the human factor of hockey. The players are human and make mistakes as well as the refs.

no, the ref did make a bad call but that happens in all sports and its human error and all the Oilers fans have to live with that

Move on. They got robbed of a point but there's not much else to do about it. Focus on the coming games instead.
