the international space station currently has three crewmembers in it should be completed by 2010 with the last missions of the space shuttles. next nasa will go back to the moon by 2020 and plans to leave men their for extended periods of time. after that would come manned missions to mars and then to other planets and moons. we could colonize more of our solar system in the not too distant future, but eventually we will learn the secrets of interstellar travel. Then we can go to other, more earthlike planets across the galaxy and accross the universe. at that point we might even find some other intelligent life. that would be cool.
go to nasa.gov, orion is the program that will get us back to the moon and then to mars.

The only way that humans will ever leave earth to live elsewhere is by terraforming another planet in our solar system (mars is the only suitable candidate). Humans will most likely never reach another star, because even the closest is lightyears away, which would take us literally forever to travel... If we can form an atmosphere around mars, then it is possible. If not, then humans will never live off of earth. The logistics of living without an atmosphere are too complicated - carrying oxygen everywhere you go, having to be extremely cautious with every movement so you dont tear your suit and expose yourself to the vaccuum of space, staying out of the 200 degree sun (and the minus 180 degree shade)...

we already have genius.
Last time I checked Earth was smack dab in the middle of space.
J/k but seriously Yes only if we don't kill each other off first.
(This is no trivial concern. Consider Stephan Hawking's remark that it may just be a mark of the universe that life forms of a certain technological might become unstable and self terminate - thus explaining why we have not made contact via radio or whatever with any aliens to date. Besides you buddy's LSD stories, we have not found any aliens).

it is certain that, unless our civilization or our species are destroyed somehow in the next couple of centuries, the human species will establish scientific, military and maybe industrial settlements on many of the celestial bodies circling the sun.
however, reaching other stars and creating some sort of manned presence beyond the boundaries of our star is yet a science fiction issue.

Certainly it is possible; but it may not happen for several more generations. With current technology, it would be too expensive.
BTW, we could colonize a nearby planet, such as Mars, far sooner than some undiscovered "Earthlike" planet light years distant.

If humans don't destroy themselves first I think it something that will eventually happen. If our population continues it's upward trend, then it will be the only way we will survive actually.
