The program is completely free if you're just using it to play back or convert audio files, but in order to actually download music from the iTunes Store it does cost money. There are, however, free songs available from time to time as a promotion. For example, The Blow (K Records) has a cool new track on there available for free. download something like limewire. You can then open up those music files with itunes. Then you can put them on your Ipod
