Most things in space spin. Could mankind live on a spinning star? No because it is too hot. Could mankind live on a spinning potato? No because it is too small. Could mankind live on a spinning ball of hydrogen like Jupiter? No because there is no surface. Could mankind live on a spinning speck of space dust? No too small, like the potato. That leaves only one possibility left, mankind must live on a spinning rock in space. It's the only logical conclusion.
